ACT AND SAT PREP CLASSES

Parents Connected provides college admission test prep courses, facilitated by Princeton Review, an industry leader in test prep, to prepare students for the ACT and SAT college entrance exams. Our ACT/SAT Prep Courses are offered at a minimal cost.

COLLEGE TOURS

Historically Black Colleges & Universities

Parents Connected offers week-long tours of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the Spring. Students gain unique insights and perspectives on the HBCU College tour trip. Many students are offered on the spot admission. Some students receive scholarships if eligible. Tours are offered at affordable and competitive rates.

Southern California Colleges & Universities

Parents Connected offers 4-Day college tours to Southern California in the Fall to expose students to colleges and universities outside of their immediate community. Students will have information sessions with Admissions representatives and guided campus tours.

SCHOLARSHIP & ESSAY ASSISTANCE

Parents Connected, along with volunteers, some of whom are teachers, will assist students in applying for college scholarships and reviewing their college essays.

COLLEGE ACCESS PROJECT

Parents Connected has developed an academic coaching/mentoring program for Students of Color focused on the student’s academic achievements, character development, healthy self-identity, and college readiness.

COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOP

Parents Connected provides all seniors and their parents/guardians access to computers to complete college applications.

SUMMER COLLEGE TRANSITION PROGRAM

In partnership with Los Medanos Community College, Parents Connected provides a 3-week summer transition program for graduating African American male seniors who are entering college in the fall. Our focus on this program is to help the students adjust to college life, including study skills, navigating the system, financial aid, and budgeting.

FAFSA NIGHT

Parents Connected hosts several nights where students and parents will be provided computer access and guidance through each step of completing the free Federal Financial Aid Application.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

Parents Connected’s Parent Engagement component entails meeting with parents at various times per year (I.e. Parents Back 2 School Kickoff, College Access Project Monthly Parent Sessions, Informational meetings, workshops, etc.). We inform parents on how to assist their students with navigating through the high school system and how to prepare for college. Parents Connected has implemented Parent cohorts by grade demographic to build parent communities.
